Since COVID-19 was detected in Wuhan, China, millions of people have been infected by this disease that is transmitted through respiratory droplets. What’s important about COVID-19 is that a person can easily get sick by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their mouth, nose, or eyes. After exposure, COVID-19 symptoms can appear within two to 14 days.

For that reason, the Hispanic Coalition of Greater Waterbury held different strategy events, helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 in communities. The agency hosted 14 educational events over four months, including answering questions, addressing concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine, and promoting vaccination clinics.

In addition, the Hispanic Coalition of Greater Waterbury had the collaboration of Griffin Hospital, who is committed to keeping communities healthy. Every Thursday, Griffin Hospital team conducted the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Hispanic Coalition Recreation Center. The events were held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

At this time, Connecticut’s policies regarding masks and face shields were updated to align with the CDC recommendations. The statewide mask policy currently in effect is that the unvaccinated must wear masks indoors and outdoors, people are not required to wear a mask. On the other hand, all people are required to wear masks in health centers, facilities that house vulnerable populations, public and private transportation, prisons, schools and childcare.

Be safe, be healthy.
